Teaching math and enriching minds since 1998

Matt has spent the last 25 years, and over 25,000 hours, honing his math skills and perfecting his teaching ability to get to the place where he is today. Working one-on-one with hundreds of students of various abilities has afforded him an array of skills necessary to accommodate any learning style or challenge. Ironically, he’s learned quite a bit from his students that has made him a more effective tutor.

It all began back in East Granby, Connecticut where Matt was a typical high school student – involved in sports, music and social events – and didn’t always prioritize his studies. It wasn’t until later in his high school years that he discovered his talent for math, with the encouragement of an inspirational teacher. Matt went on to major in math at the University of Maine at Farmington, where he began working in the campus tutoring center. As more and more students began to request appointments with Matt specifically, he realized that he had a different perspective and way of teaching than other tutors, and his style was highly effective. Matt soon expanded his tutoring to include local high school students.

Hoping to continue his tutoring when he moved back to Connecticut after college in 2001, he placed an ad in a local weekly flyer and received a few calls. From there, word-of-mouth spread, and Matt went the next 12 years without doing any advertising whatsoever. In fact, his tutoring schedule had become so full that in 2010, he left his full-time finance job to devote more time to his growing tutoring business.

Easy going and patient by nature, Matt has a unique way of connecting with students and their parents to set the stage for tutoring success. He is committed to going above and beyond to help his students achieve their goals – whether that means improving class grades, increasing scores on standardized tests, or getting accepted to their “first choice” college.

Matt is a Simsbury resident and father to twin baby girls, an eleven year old son and a thirteen year old daughter. In his spare time, Matt enjoys music, movies, hiking, watching and playing sports, and spending as much time as he can with his friends and family.
